Good Food and Hot Panhandles Go Together

Yesterday started out in Weatherford OK, and we motored first to Clinton OK on Rt 66 to meet with Elisha Rangel, a reporter for the Clinton Daily News. Elisha is writing a piece about the 3C adventure, and encouraging their readers to participate and support our efforts. We also visited the Rt. 66 Museum in Clinton, which claims to be the best Rt. 66 Museum on the route, and after visiting I have no reason to dispute that claim. From Clinton we pressed onto Amarillo Texas, where Mike took us to a restaurant he was familiar with to enjoy some authentic Mexican cuisine at the Braseros Mexican Grill & Bar. It was in fact the best meal we have had on the route so far! From Amarillo we motored on driving the width of the Texas panhandle with our final destination of the day in Santa Rosa NM. The Texas panhandle was much as I have always imagined. Flat, dry, and hot. What I wasn’t expecting was the amount of wind in that area. The wind is so persistent and strong, that trees actually grow with a leeward bend as you often see in breezy coastal areas, but without the benefit of an ocean close by. Nevertheless, it is a really interesting drive and we enjoyed every mile. Stay tuned, more adventure coming!
